This immigration pathway enables you as a foreign skilled worker, become a Canadian permanent resident through three federal immigration pathways:

  • Federal skilled worker program
  • Federal skilled trades program
  • Canadian experience class

Requirements for Express Entry

Those interested in applying for the express entry program will be required to meet with the below requirements.

  • They must have a minimum of one-year work experience in their occupation.
  • Must be proficient in either English or French language.
  • Applicant must have a valid post-secondary education that is equivalent to that in Canada.

These are the least requirements needed to apply for the express entry program as a skilled worker. Meeting with these requirements will not automatically qualify you for invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence but it will give you an edge.

  • Language test results
  • Education credential assessment report

Applicants will be given a grace of 60 days to complete the online profile. if more than one candidate has the same lowest score, the cut-off mark will be based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

After sorting out all eligible candidates, they will be placed in an express entry pool where they will be given a comprehensive ranking system score which will determine their ranking in the express entry program. After this, you will be given an invitation if you score higher than the least required score. Receiving the “invitation to apply” means that you are eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

THE PROVINCIAL NORMINATION PROGRAM (PNP)

The Provincial Nominee Program is a set of different Canadian immigration programs operated by the Government of Canada in partnership with provinces in the country, each of which having its own requirements and ‘streams’.

This program is for foreign applicants (workers) who:

  • have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory
  • want to live in that province, and
  • want to become permanent residents of Canada

It’s important to note that each province and territory have its own immigration programs that target certain groups and their requirements. For example, in a program stream, provinces and territories may target:
